What we hold, and why.
Last updated February 2026. SidarGlobal LLC, Washington, D.C., is the controller for the data described here.
Data about you, our client
We collect your email address, and the name and firm you give us, in order to open an account, attach matters to it and send you your reports. We keep a record of the matters you open and the fees paid. We do not sell this data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data about report subjects
To produce a report we process the subject details you supply and information about that subject drawn from public registries, court records, sanctions lists, press and other open sources. Our lawful basis is the legitimate interest of our clients and their clients in assessing counterparty risk before entering a transaction or engagement.
We do not contact report subjects, and we do not tell them that a report has been ordered. Where a subject exercises a right that requires us to act, we will consider it against our clients' confidentiality and any legal obligation we owe.
Files you upload
Prior reports you upload are stored privately and their text is used as leads for fresh research. Nothing carried across from a prior report is repeated as fact unless it is independently re-verified in the new report.
Processors we use
Hosting and database: our managed cloud platform. Payments: Stripe, which receives your email and billing details directly and which we never see card data from. AI research and drafting: a third-party large language model provider, which receives matter instructions, subject details and uploaded prior-report text. Email delivery: our transactional email provider.
Cookies
We set only what is needed to keep you signed in and to run the checkout. There is no advertising or cross-site tracking on this site.
Retention
Account and matter records, reports and uploads are kept while your account is open, so counsel can return to a file. Ask us to delete a matter or an account and we will, other than records we must keep for accounting and tax purposes.
Your rights
Depending on where you are, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port or object to the processing of your personal data. Write to privacy@checkrisk.io and we will respond within the period your law requires.
